EPR Registration

EPR Registration is a mandatory certificate for all Producers, Manufacturers, Importers, and Brand Owners of Plastic waste, E-waste, Battery waste, Tyre waste, etc. to operate their business in India. EPR stands for Extended Producer Responsibility and as the name represents it puts the responsibility on the producer to recycle the waste in an environment-friendly manner. As per the EPR Rules of India, products that generate plastic waste, e-waste, battery waste or tyre waste are mandated to comply with EPR regulations. EPR Registration for Plastic Waste

EPR Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, holds responsibility under Producers, manufacturers, Importers and Brand-owners to recycle and reuse the product's plastic waste and take accountability for end-of-life disposal. In order to streamline the production process of EPR Registration for plastic waste, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India has mandated EPR under the 4th Amendment to the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2022.

  1. As per the EPR guidelines for plastic packaging, it is mandatory for Producers, Brandowners, and Importers to register under EPR regulation via Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). 
  2. Businesses functioning in two or more States with CPCB and those functioning in one or two States shall be registered under EPR  State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs). 

EPR Registration for E-waste

EPR for E-waste mandates producers, manufacturers, and importers of electronic waste to take responsibility for end-life management like recycling and reuse for a sustainable future. Thus, businesses are mandated to register their company under EPR Registration. The CPCB shall provide an EPR Certificate to Producers after fulfilling all EPR compliances. Those business that manufactures and sell electrical products and their equipment or consumables spare parts under the brand name.

EPR Registration for Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 mandates producers to responsibly manage their battery waste and obtain EPR certificates to manufacturers or sell their products in India. As the world is gradually replacing fossil fuel power with emission-free electrification, battery waste has become an essential production. This leads to massive quantities of battery waste. The government of India issued the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 to deal with such a situation. Battery Waste Management Rules mandate battery producers to take responsibility for collecting, refurbishing, and recycling waste batteries and recycling new batteries.  It aims to manage Battery waste in an eco-friendly manner to protect from any adverse effects.
